The Vein
Canaries warned the miners. The robin leads them.
IThe VeinIn 2009 somebody decided there would only ever be twenty-one million. Not one more. The idea stuck.
Deep under Robinhood Chain runs a seam of exactly the same size: 21,000,000 $ROMI. The miners call it the Vein. Nobody pre-sold it. No VC got a shovel. There is no mint button hidden in a drawer.
Every coin that ever leaves the Vein gets dug out.
IIThe Canary ProblemOld miners carried a canary down the shaft. If the bird went quiet, you ran.
The canaries unionised. So the Vein got a robin instead: red chest, tiny pickaxe, no sense of danger whatsoever. It didn't warn anybody about anything. It just started digging.
That's the whole business plan.
IIIThe SurfaceThe rigs haven't reached the bottom of the shaft yet. So the flock trains topside. This is Season 0.
Take jobs. Run the arcade rig (it's a bird dodging mining rigs, don't overthink it). Climb the hashboard. Points are proof you showed up before it was cool.
What are points for? The robin isn't saying.
IVThe RigsFour machines are coming down the shaft. One crate is already open: the Miner. The other three are still under tarps, and the robin keeps tapping them meaningfully.
Bigger rigs dig harder. Rigs can be tuned up. Nothing about this is subtle.
VThe GridNothing mines for free, not even in a bird game. Rigs eat power and power sends a bill.
Keep the lights on and your rig keeps swinging. Let it go dark and it just sits there, judging you.
Season 0 power is on the house.
VIThe ThinningThe Vein doesn't run dry all at once. It thins. Season by season the rock gets harder and the same swing brings up a little less.
Same as the old one. The first shift digs the softest rock.
VIIThe FlocksRobins don't stay solo for long. Lately the robin has been heard talking about flocks: birds pointing their rigs at the same rock and splitting what comes up.
Nobody knows when. The robin is not good with calendars.
VIIIThe RuleThe robin promises nothing. No price, no date, no moon.
Just a bird, a pickaxe, and twenty-one million reasons to dig.
